R.E.A.Ch. 10.
Aural Nervous Systems

In collaboration with sound engineer and composer Maarten Buyl, I analyze the aural landscapes produced during the Nervous Systems’ scores Probing space and Still dances. In R.E.A.Ch. 10. we use aural deviations as compositional tools to trigger to software to restructure, filter or amplify the choreographic score output. Our aim is to recognize patterns, textures, tempo’s, breaks, pitches, and other aural structures in the somatic dance practice. I have started recording data during Nervous Systems practices and we are developing a prototype software that allows to trace deviations in a live recording in relation to a set library of textures that resulted from the synthesis of the recordings of the practice.
