How can the artistic tools and environment of somatic-based dancing support its practitioners to engage with radically accelerating sensory input and contemporary notions of embodiment?

Since 2020, I engage in a practice-based PhD. in dance and choreography to formulate answers. My work in movement and dance develops from a somatic-based practice, that I named Nervous Systems. Nervous Systems is supported by an artistic research team. Together, we expand this dance improvisation practice with software for audiovisual mediated choreography. In other words, we create live/digitized environments that play an active and reactive role in somatic-based dance improvisation. This helps us to question the centrality of the organic body in dance practices and explore different sensitivities for technology-enhanced choreography.
