Thinking Bodies in Dance. A somatic REACh. RCA/UA, 2020 - 2024

This artistic research investigates the impact of technology on creative processes in interdisciplinary dance arts. More specific, I apply electronic composition to somatic-based dance improvisation, a strand in contemporary dance where experiences of sensations are considered creative materials in improvisation. The goal of this practice-based research is to examine to what extent computation can unveil the hermetic and introspective nature of embodied creativity in somatic dance. The aim is to achieve a method for (extended) embodied reflection that is, more than in conventional dance practices, integrated in the dance improvisation. My hope is developing an artistic method that makes somatic-based dancing more credibility and reliable as a collective, communicable, and interdisciplinary creative language.
